A day trip or an entire weekend, there is plenty to see and appreciate in Astoria. There is such varied and beautiful architecture, both in the old Victorian era homes, and the downtown buildings. Take time to walk around downtown and admire the architecture and the fun murals painted on the sides of buildings. Walk down to the old pier to watch the container ships coming and going out to sea at the mouth of the Columbia River. There are new restaurants to try and fun shop to explore. Drive up to the Astoria Column where (on a clear day) there is a spectacular view, whether you climb to the top or not. Spending several days, or only several hours, Astoria makes a great destination.
