There’s no better way to welcome spring or celebrate summer than by wandering through fields of dazzling color and breathing in the sweet aroma of fresh blossoms. From the first daffodils of March to the fruited promise of apple and pear blossoms, from perky tulips painting a rainbow across a field to the irresistible fragrance of lilacs and lavender, there’s a blossom, and a festival, for everyone.

Over 500 acres of daffodils burst into bloom in LaConner in March, transforming the valley with a field of sunshine. Few places can rival the Skagit Valley for the spring display it puts on. There’s also plenty of small-town charm, unique lodging, and natural beauty to enjoy, as well as daffodil-centric events and exhibits.

Cherry Blossom Day at the Capital
Salem, OR
March 15, 2025
Cherry Blossom Day at the Capitol is held in early spring when the cherry trees around the Oregon State Capitol bloom in stunning shades of pink and white. The event celebrates both the beauty of the cherry blossoms and the impact of the Japanese culture on the state of Oregon. Visitors can stroll through the Capitol Mall, take photos under the blooming trees, and enjoy performances, cultural exhibits, and activities that celebrate both Japanese and Oregonian traditions. The family-friendly event takes place from 11 am to 3pm and features live music, dance performances, and hands-on activities such as calligraphy demonstrations and origami workshops.

Visitors come from all over the world to see millions of tulips in bloom across 40 acres of fields. Plus, on the weekends you can catch a wooden-shoe-making demonstration, steam tractor demonstrations, and local kite flyers.

Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival
Seattle, WA

Sakura, the cherry blossom, is considered the national flower of Japan and it’s bloom is a celebration of life and beauty. The Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival was initiated by a gift of 1,000 cherry trees from Japan’s prime minister. Since 1954, Medford has been celebrating the spring blossom season of the pear orchards. Hilda Kluger Lilac Days

The Hilda Kluger Lilac Gardens is a National Historic Site anchored by the 1800s home of famed lilac developer Hulda Klager. Today, the restored property hosts Lilac Days to celebrate the beauty of lilacs in bloom. Hulda’s farmhouse, the barn/museum, and the gift shop are only open during Lilac Days. The Portland Rose Festival is one of Portland’s most beloved events. The City of Roses has been celebrating its official flower for 118 years with fireworks, parades, a vibrant carnival, and a cherished community tradition of electing royalty. During Fleet Week, the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Navy dock along the Willamette riverfront and open their ships for tours to the public. Swan Island Dahlia Festival

The last flower to bloom in the garden is many people’s favorites – the irresistible dahlia. You won’t believe the sheer variety of kinds you can grow, and their nonstop bloom from midsummer until the first frost will keep the color going in your garden. Every Wednesday through Sunday in August and September, Swan Island Dahlias opens their 50 acres of dahlia fields to visitors. You can wander through almost 50 acres of dahlias with over 375 varieties in a rainbow of colors. The festival offers food carts, live music, classes, and, of course, dahlias, both fresh-cut and ordered for spring delivery.
