When you visit Harstine Island, you can while away a day exploring Jarrell Cove State Park with its 3,500 ft of saltwater shoreline–ideal for swimming, boating, shellfish harvesting, or simply lounging on a rocky beach.

Nearby Harstine Island State Park is a peaceful spot for beachcombing and, at low tide, you can walk out to McMicken Island via a natural sand spit. McMicken Island State Park is an 11.5- acre marine park with a saltwater shoreline and wildlife you’ll spot up close.

Bring your bike or take a leisurely drive along the island’s scenic 20 miles of back roads, with picture-worthy stops like historic Harstine Island Community Hall. There are 25 miles of shoreline for kayakers to navigate, and marine campgrounds where you can pull ashore and stay the night.
Be sure to stop for provisions before your visit to the island at Olympic Bakery and Deli. Stock up on its baked goods fresh from the oven, and don’t pass up their signature pastry–a cream cheese Rugalach with your choice of six delicious fillings. Browse the deli for fresh soups and sandwiches, choose from a mouth-watering selection of wine, bread, and cheese, and then enjoy your meal indoors or out on the sunny deck. Or, pack it up and head across the bridge for a laid-back island picnic.
