The Christmas Lighting Festival in Leavenworth, Washington is one of the top destinations for enjoying holiday delights. Truly one of the most magical Christmas towns, the festival transforms this Bavarian village into a virtual snow globe of holiday magic over the first three weekends in December.
The Christmas tree lighting takes place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, but plan to arrive early and enjoy the caroling, watch the kids fly down the town park sled hill, try some chestnuts roasted over the open fire and then be mesmerized at the countdown as the entire town springs to live with glistening lights. Plus there are concerts, horse drawn sleighs, shops selling Bavarian goods, and of course, lots of German cuisine and beer.
