Spring is a colorful time to visit the Portland Japanese Garden. Set on the slopes of the west hills overlooking downtown Portland, the garden is near many other sights you won’t want to miss on a visit. The International Rose Test Gardens are just across the parking lot, the Oregon Zoo is just down the road a bit, and Pittock Mansion with its expansive views is nearby. Also close by is Forest Park, a large arboretum and natural landscape that makes for a great hike. The west hills of Portland may look like it is just filled with homes, but there are plenty of hidden pockets of treasures in among the trees…
