Vancouver’s New Waterfront

Published by Dawn On January 23, 2019

An easy walk

It was a beautiful, sunny, unusually warm day – a perfect day to go check out the progress on the new waterfront in Vancouver, WA. We parked downtown and did an easy walk to the waterfront, although there is plenty of new pay parking lots already in place closer by. Just a few blocks south of Esther Short Park, you walk under the railway overpass and find plenty of high rise construction going on. The buildings and walkways closest to the water’s edge are already completed and a few restaurants are already open for business. The restaurants look to have plenty of outdoor seating and will be a great place to eat outside and admire the view of the beautiful Columbia on those many perfect sunny days we have.

All brand new

It is so great to see this renewal of a long neglected asset in downtown Vancouver. They are going with a subtle nautical theme playing on the historic wartime ship building industry, but there is nothing old world about this new waterfront. It is definitely a new and vibrant area and well worth a walk down to see. This is just phase one being completed… can’t wait to see what comes next!

  • Nice, long walkways with seating areas
  • What a great spot to watch airplanes and boats
  • An airplane heads in for a landing over the I-5 bridge
  • Outdoor seating awaits
  • Twigs Bistro and Wild Fin restaurants are already open
  • Walk out onto the new nautical theme pier
  • Attractive curving walkways
