Wednesday On the Water

#WednesdayOnTheWater | #Florence | #SeaLionCaves

Florence, Oregon is home to these stunning sea lion caves! The connected system of caves open to the Pacific Ocean. Gaining human access to the caves took time and ingenuity. They were discovered in 1880, but it wasn’t opened to the public until 1932, after the 1500 foot long trail and 135 step tower were completed. The elevator was finished in 1961, allowing 400 visitors per hour to the caves.

The sea lion caves are the 2nd stop on America’s Hub World Tours’ Oregon Coast Day Tour from Eugene. You’ll also visit Fern Ridge Reservoir, Heceta Head Lighthouse, and beautiful stops in Yachats. This daily tour is roundtrip from Eugene and departs Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
