The arrival of winter means magnificent snow and ice covered waterfalls along with postcard-perfect photographs, like this one, our Best of the Northwest photo of the week.
Located at Mount Hood, the 100-foot-tall Tamanawas Falls is reached via a hike along Cold Springs Creek that’s spectacular in any season, but winter is especially breathtaking, walking across wooden footbridges through dense snow-covered forest on the 2-mile out-and-back trail.
To get there from Hood River, Oregon, follow highway 35 to milepost 72, where you’ll find a parking area and the trailhead.
