Newell Pioneer Village is a historical site located in the peaceful Willamette Valley town of  Champoeg, Oregon situated approximately mid way between Salem and Portland along the banks of the Willamette River and just a few miles west of I-5.

Four historic buildings are available to tour:

The Robert Newell House, built in 1852 and decorated in the style of the 1860s and displays include the gowns worn by wives of Oregon Governors dating to the mid 19th century, and an antique quilt and textile collection.

Pioneer Mother’s Memorial Cabin, built in 1929 but is a replica of a cabin built after the flood of 1861 by the George Aplin Family.

Old Butteville Jail, dating to 1848, was moved from the neighboring town of Butteville, about 3 miles away.

Butteville Academy, dates to approximately the mid-1800s and was originally a combination church/school. It was moved from Butteville to the Newell Pioneer Village in 1957.
