The Willamette Heritage Center is a non-profit museum located in downtown Salem, Oregon preserving the mid-Willamette Valley history.

The Willamette Heritage Center connects generations by preserving and interpreting Mid-Willamette Valley history. The fourteen historic structures on site house permanent and changing exhibits, a research library and archive, a textile learning center, and rentable event spaces. The five-acre campus is also home to retail shops, art galleries, cooperative artist studios, and offices for our partner organizations

Admission to the museum gives you access to exhibits in nine historic structures on our five-acre site. A self-guided tour map is available at the front desk to guide your journey through the museum.

Permanent exhibits explore the experiences of Native Americans in the Valley and early European settlement of Oregon including Jason Lee and the Methodist Mission to Oregon and the Oregon Trail.

The Thomas Kay Woolen Mill buildings provide an in-depth look at industrialization and the woolen industry in Oregon. Our special exhibit gallery provides a focused look on seasonal and topical aspects of the heritage of the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Living history volunteers can give you in-depth history
