October is a wonderful time to hike the paths around Silver Falls State Park near Silverton, Oregon. There are several falls to visit, and colorful foliage to photograph. There are several routes you can take to get to the park – all with different things to see along the way. One of the most scenic may be heading east on Hwy 22 out of Salem and exiting at Aumsville, where you head left toward Shaw and over the rolling hills of farmland. Follow the signs and they’ll tell you right where to turn to either head towards Silverton or Silver Falls State Park. There are many options to get there from I-5 whether you head off the freeway at Oregon City, Woodburn, Keizer, or Salem – as long as you work your way towards Hwy 214, you’re good!
