Photo of the day: Summer Lake in Central Oregon.
Summer Lake is one of Oregon’s largest lakes at approximately 20 miles x 10 miles. Located in south central Oregon on the edge of the Fremont-Winema National Forest and about 2 hours southeast of Bend, the area’s remoteness is its very draw. Unspoiled, small towns, a birder’s paradise, and vast landscapes make this area worth a visit when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind.

Summer Lake Wildlife Area Visitor’s Guide includes a video short on the area.
At the southern tip of the lake, you can still visit the 1920s era Summer Lake Hot Springs
