Haystack rock in Cannon Beach is photographed often for good reason. It is an iconic Oregon image that can look completely different depending upon the time of day, light conditions, and number of people visiting at the time. In summer it can be the site of a kite festival, full of colors, sandcastles, and smiling faces. In the morning, light coming from the east glistens off the morning dew and reflects in the tide pools at its base, at sunset the sky can light up in oranges and pinks and you can feel as if you are in another world with just the sound of gulls and waves lapping at the shore. Its location just a block from downtown Cannon Beach gives it easy access and makes it one of the most popular beaches on the Oregon coastline.
