Did you know you can actually sail for free at the Center for Wooden Boats?
With this weekend’s scorching weather, there’s no better time than to take advantage of one of the few places in America where you can enjoy a boat ride at absolutely no cost. At its Lake Union location, visitors not only can take all sorts of classes and lessons, but every Sunday, they can head out onto the water with volunteer skippers and crew on spirit boats, schooners, electric boats, steamboats and occasionally yachts – for free
This has been a Seattle tradition for over 25 years, year-round, rain or shine. The ride lasts for about an hour, and sign-ups begin in person at 10 a.m. on Sunday – arrive early, especially on holiday weekends and sunny days.
If you want to enjoy more fun out on the water in the Northwest, check out USA River Cruises, which offers sailing trips through the San Juan Islands, cruises on the Columbia River and much more.
