The Oregon Coast is filled with breathtaking spots, but the village of Yachats and the surrounding area may be its most stunning stretch of all.
This is where you’ll find Thor’s Well, captured so beautifully by @nextlocationtbd, we decided to make it our photo of the week. Be sure to check out Paul Didsayabutra‘s entire Instagram feed for more fantastic Pacific Northwest shots!
The “well” is actually a hole in the rock that seems to drain water from the ocean, but in reality the huge hole it’s believed to be only around 20 feet deep. Still, it offers a spectacular sight especially at high tide or during a storm when the water violently washes over the rocks and funnels into the hole.
If you decide to venture to Yachats this weekend to see it, you can also enjoy the 18th annual Yachats Village Mushroom Fest, held Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22. It offers a weekend of cultivated culinary and wild forest mushrooms dishes, culinary markets, demonstrations, and an opportunity to learn all about mushrooms. A team of experts will also provide informative mushroom talks, guided walks, workshops and wild mushrooms displays.
