SOLV Oregon Beach Cleanup
March 23, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Each spring and fall, local and visiting volunteers from all walks of life, united by their love of the Oregon Coast, join forces in places like Cannon Beach to rid the beaches of debris that has been deposited by storms or left behind by careless beach goers. In a monumental effort to keep Oregon’s beaches beautiful, a twice-annual clean up began over 30 years ago and the tradition has gained momentum in recent years. On average, 6500 volunteers pick up over 50 tons of litter and marine debris through these efforts each year.
March 23, 2019 beginning mid-morning. Volunteers are encouraged to pre-register online, especially groups of 15 or more. If pre-registration is not possible, participants are welcome to register the morning of the event.
Volunteers should plan for all kinds of weather and wear clothing appropriate for getting dirty. SOLVE provides supplies including bags, gloves, tools and other items necessary for the project. However, to make the event more sustainable, volunteers are welcome to bring reusable bags, buckets and gloves to use in lieu of the provided items. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles.
