Over the snow, it’s Winthrop Washington’s 27th annual Air Balloon Roundup up in the sky
The skies over Winthrop brighten with the brilliant colors of over a dozen hot air balloons. This 3-day Balloon Roundup is a photographer’s dream. An incredible visual display as the balloons fly over the old western town of Winthrop and the snow-capped mountains of the North Cascades.
There is something magical about seeing a hot air balloon fly up over snow-covered hills. This special balloon roundup takes place in March and weather can be a factor. It is suggested you tack on a day or two to make sure you have a chance to see the beautiful sight, as well as get in some snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or snowball throwing in this charming old-west town. This is a viewing-only event. Rides must be booked well in advance – they usually fill up by November.
