How did you get started in your business?
I ran an outdoor club at Lawrence University and first paddled in the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. I was hired on in 2001 to lead the kayaking program at Camp Nor’wester here in the San Juan Islands and have been here ever since. With a biology degree in hand I was hired here at Outdoor Odysseys in 2004 and worked as a guide, naturalist, and staff educator for founder Clark Casebolt until purchasing the business in 2012.
What’s something about you or your business that not everyone knows?
We like to have our guests feel like family rather than customers.
When you have a day off, what Pacific Northwest experiences do you like to go and enjoy?
As a ski ambassador for Outdoor Research and Black Crows Skis I spend much of my free time in the mountains climbing and skiing peaks. The Cascades provide so many opportunities for these adventures!
If you had to describe what you love about the Pacific Northwest in 3 words, what would you choose?
