I enjoyed a trip to Maurice’s in downtown Portland. It is within walking distance of Powell’s City of Books. It is a unique Nordic/French fusion lunch spot for those seeking out a new and unusual lunch or dessert and coffee spot. You won’t find big beefy burgers here, but you will find polenta clafoutis with poached egg, lefse with grapefruit kissed gravlax, or anisette & chocolate brioche rolls. The all-white interior is decorated with beautiful dried floral accents. They manage to seat a surprising number of guests in the small space. You may score a window seat, or choose a seat at the bar where you can watch the foods prepared. Well worth a stop if you are in the mood for the out-of-the-ordinary.
