While Mount Rainier, that prominent peak in the Cascades Mountain Range that looms over the entire Puget Sound region at over 14,400 feet is spectacular all year round, autumn is arguably the best time to go. The crowds have thinned, the weather is often idyllic, and you’ll see vibrant colors splashed throughout the landscape. One of the best ways to experience it is to take a ride on the Mt. Rainier Railroad, which is why we’ve chosen this image as our Northwest Photo of the Week.
Not only will you get to see all of that color, but the railroad offers special trips for the season like the The Great Pumpkin Patch Express where Snoopy and Charlie Brown will join you for the ride. It includes all sorts of kid-friendly activities, the chance to pick your own pumpkins and bring them home, trick-or-treating and a whole lot more. Everyone, kids and adults alike, are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.
