Our photo of the week is a view looking out over the Seattle waterfront skyline. In the distance you can see the arcs of the Great Wheel, the Seahawk’s stadium, and the Mariner’s stadium. In the past few years, the city has been reimagining its waterfront – removing a two-tier old highway that separated the downtown from the waterfront, and is in the process of expanding the more useable space for all to enjoy. If you’ve been to Seattle’s historic Pike Market, you’ll know it is built on the edge of a very steep incline with the waterfront along the Puget Sound below. From the market you can watch ferries travel across the Sound to the many different islands that dot the area. The area is a-buzz with activity and will soon be all fixed up, better connecting the waterfront with new elevators, improved docks, new areas to explore, and yet still retaining all the traditional old historic buildings we all know and love.
