Wine & Solar Eclipse Viewing Parties Taking Place Across Oregon

Published by KC Dermody On August 19, 2017

Everyone has been talking about the Great American Solar Eclipse – and, while you may be tired of hearing about it, you also might suddenly realize that while it is incredibly hyped, it’s something you should really see (with eye protection, of course). After all, the last one like it took place nearly a century ago and won’t happen again in your lifetime.

As many places in Oregon will be in the path of totality, when the moon passes in front of the sun, and the state happens to be filled with numerous wineries and vineyards, many are offering special events. Of course, we’re not guaranteeing that they aren’t sold out – you’ll need to hurry if you hope to attend.

Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Holloran Vineyard Wines

Holloran Vineyard Wines is hosting a solar eclipse viewing party and a campout at the top of the hill in its La Chenaie vineyard in the Willamette Valley.  It begins Sunday afternoon, August 20, with a vineyard tour with owner Bill Holloran and winemaker Mark LaGasse, and is followed up with a dinner, and camping under the stars.  In the morning you’ll be able to wake up in an especially scenic spot and watch the eclipse in the Path of Totality.

Solar Eclipse Experience at Stoller Family Estates

From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday the 21st, you can enjoy the Solar Eclipse Experience at Stoller Family Estates, which includes breakfast, wine and mimosas, solar eclipse viewing, music and more.

Solar Eclipse Experience at Willamette Valley Vineyards

Willamette Valley Vineyards is also offering a solar eclipse experience from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Monday. After the viewing, you can enjoy wine tasting, educational presentations and live music, and there will also be food available for purchase.

Left Coast Cellars Vineyard Eclipse Party

Left Coast Cellars will host its vineyard eclipse party from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, celebrating totality at 10:17 a.m. with a toast in a souvenir glass. You’ll also get to enjoy breakfast after the eclipse and tasting in the Orchards vineyard as well as a winemaker discussion. Wine and food will be available in the Tasting Room & Cafe.

Eclipse Breakfast Picnic at Yamhill Valley Vineyards

Yamhill Valley Vineyards invites you to bring a blanket or lawn chair for a picnic viewing experience – they’ll provide catered breakfast and coffee, as well as their limited release ‘Bubbles’ sparkling wine.
