Spirit Falls is a gorgeous waterfall located in the southern portion of Gifford Pinchot National Park. It involves a 0.8 mile hike with 500 foot elevation incline, rated as “hard.” Thankfully, there are hardy photographers that are willing to do the hike and bring back amazing photos for the rest of us to enjoy! The old lava beds that surround Mt Adams in this part of the Cascades have many interesting opportunities for hikes both easy and difficult. Mt. Adams is always picturesque and worth a drive out that way – even if only to reward yourself with a beer at one of the local breweries for lunch, watch some river rafting, or explore the old lava tubes or Guller Ice Cave on this easy day trip from Portland.
