Willamette Heritage Center is a fantastic historic site to visit in Salem. Admission to the museum gives you access to 9 historic buildings on the site. You’ll be given a self-guided tour map, leading to the variety of historic exhibits. To look at industrialization in Oregon, head to the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill buildings and the Mentzer Machine Shop. Permanent exhibits in the collection of 1840s homes include the experiences of early European settlers, the Oregon Trail, and the Native Americans who lived in the Willamette Valley.
