One of the more iconic Oregon coast images and for good reason. Located on the mid-Oregon coastline between Yachats (pronounced YAW-hots) and Florence, the Heceta (pronounced HUH-see-tuh) Head Viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the lighthouse which dates to about 1894. Guided tours are available. Bonus stay opportunity: the lighthouse keeper’s cottage is also a bed and breakfast.
The Pacific Northwest coastline offers such variety even locals can find something new every time they visit. Whether you love historic lighthouses, playing a round of golf on the edge of the ocean in Bandon, exploring tidepools in Cannon Beach, flying kites in Long Beach, whale watching in the San Juans, or pelican watching in Tillamook, there is always something fun to do when at the beach!
